NSW: O'Farrell says Liberals will change following latest defeat

The New South Wales Liberals' newly installed leader .. BARRY O'FARRELL .. says his
party's determined to change .. after losing an election to an unpopular Labor government.

Mr O'FARRELL'S been unanimously elected to replace PETER DEBNAM .. who decided not
to recontest the position after it became clear he didn't have the numbers.

And JILLIAN SKINNER defeated BRAD HAZZARD in a ballot of lower house Liberal MPs this
morning for the deputy leadership.

And MIKE GALLACHER remains Liberal leader in the upper house .. after defeating GREG PEARCE.

Liberal MPs will reconvene at a later date to elect a deputy leader for the upper house
.. after a ballot between Matthew MASON-COX and CATHERINE CUSACK resulted in a tie.

Mr O'FARRELL says his 31 colleagues in the parliamentary Liberal Party realise they
have to work harder .. and be more unified .. after the party's fourth consecutive election
loss to Labor.
