WA: Boarding schools consider testing kids for SARS
Some Perth boarding schools could make students returning from overseas holidays spendtime in quarantine or be tested for the potentially deadly Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome.
The Association of Independent Schools of Western Australia says some schools are consideringthe move in a bid to prevent an outbreak of the flu-like illness which has killed over100 people worldwide.
Association spokeswoman AUDREY JACKSON says schools are facing a dilemma about SARSbecause there's no real knowledge of how contagious it is.
Ms JACKSON says some schools are considering insisting that students returning fromoverseas holidays spend 10 days in quarantine at the home of a Perth guardian before comingback to the school.
She says others are contemplating asking students to undergo tests for SARS beforethey're readmitted.
